CARSTENSEN RESIDENCE - Hudson Valley, NY

This design reimagines a traditional Tudor-style home in New York as a warm, family-oriented landscape that blends structure, texture, and nature. The concept emphasizes functional outdoor “rooms” that adapt to the family’s everyday life — from a cozy woodland fire lounge and a treehouse adventure zone to a spa retreat and a reflective stream.

The design integrates layered plantings, natural materials, and a thoughtful circulation pattern that balances openness and privacy. Corten steel accents, Accoya wood decks, and Techo-Bloc pavers connect the home’s classic architecture with modern detailing. Plant selections were chosen to complement the steel, stone, and wood tones, creating harmony throughout the site.

The overall goal was to craft a space that feels timeless yet personal — one that evolves beautifully across the seasons and invites daily connection with nature.
